Poster put up for students to take pictures in front of for Beat Simi Day.

On Wednesday, January 17, our school went against our rivals, Simi High School, for four different teams. Boys soccer and boys basketball played at home, while girls soccer and girls basketball played at Simi Valley High School. Our school has a long running and ongoing rivalry with our cross town rival Simi Valley High School so when we compete against them, it is a big deal.

To show our school spirit  we held a green and gold spirit day! Students dressed up in their best green and gold outfits to show their  support for our teams. A big poster was also made and put up outside of the MPR building for students to come and take pictures in front of. The game results are in and unfortunately boys varsity basketball lost 58-51 and girls varsity basketball lost 55-24. However, boys varsity soccer tied with Simi Valley High School 1-1 and girls varsity soccer also ended with a time game of 2-2. These were some tough games!

Junior varsity soccer player Reese Barnard said, “It felt amazing to play against Simi because this is the game that everyone talks about.” When asked about the final score, Barnard also said, “It is, what it is, with the final score. I’m still super proud of my team and we technically didn’t lose.”

Hi, my name is Sammy Enriquez! I am currently a junior and graduating in 2025. This is my first year in journalism but so far I really enjoy being able to get more involved with the school. Some things I love are my dog, listening to music, being creative, and spending time with my friends and family. After high school I plan to attend a college here in California and pursue my passions.
