On Wednesday, November 29, boy’s varsity basketball tried to continue their success in tournament play against a weak opponent.

The Highlanders got off to a hot start in the season with a 8-1 tournament record. Junior Power Forward Devon Ware said, “The thing that helped us with our success early on is the work ethic of the team. Personally I helped reflect the team’s work ethic by playing great defense.”

It started with multiple 3’s to help the Highlanders stay in the game early on against Holy Martyrs. It became a low scoring game with great defense for both teams. Junior Center Caden Sramek said, “I try to help my team win any way possible. I try to create as much disruption like getting blocks and deflections to help the transition offense.” Sramek’s defense propelled the Highlanders late in the 4th quarter to ultimately come away with a win to start 9-1.

The Highlanders have a tough game coming up on December 11 against Newbury Park at the Highlanders home court. Come out and support our basketball team.
