The Pride Club is a student-run club that allows students to discuss LGBTQ+ related topics, do fun activities, and meet new like-minded people. This club is meant to encourage inclusivity at our school and provide a safe space for anyone who wants to join. The Pride Club welcomes students of all sexual orientations, gender identities, races, religions, etc. During the most recent meeting, the Pride Club leaders provided bracelet making materials as well as pride stickers and pins for the club members. Students used these materials and made bracelets as their first club activity of the year. During most meetings, they focus on a specific topic, discuss it, sometimes do an activity, and also catch up with club members. Occasionally, they also have speakers visit these meetings to talk about important topics.

Club president Lola ForbesBlack said, “I think it’s important to have a Pride Club on campus to provide a safe place for LGBTQ+ students and their allies.” ForbesBlack also said, “It is such a strong community. Everyone cares for each other and we all have a common goal, to support each other.” Pride Club attendee, senior Makayla Bell said, “It’s important because it shows equality and teaches people things that they might not know.”

The Pride Club is always welcoming new members. You can stay updated with meeting dates and get more information by following the club’s Instagram account @rhs.pride. Come check it out!

Hi, my name is Sammy Enriquez! I am currently a junior and graduating in 2025. This is my first year in journalism but so far I really enjoy being able to get more involved with the school. Some things I love are my dog, listening to music, being creative, and spending time with my friends and family. After high school I plan to attend a college here in California and pursue my passions.
