Students in the process of filming weekly video announcements during third period.

Our school morning announcements are shown to inform students of important events or things that will be taking place that week or an upcoming day. These announcements are filmed in room 7-8. There are three news anchors in total. These news anchors are senior Kevin Feig, senior Nicholas Iserman, and junior Logan Armenta. The person in charge of the camera is Emily Floyd, the teleprompter is senior Arturo Serratos, editor is senior Elena Ferara, and lastly the stage manager is Iserman.

Each person is assigned what subject/topic to talk about during the news announcement. For example, Armenta talks about academics, Iserman talks about senior news, and Fieg talks about sports. Filming takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The announcements air on Wednesdays and Fridays for the entire school to see. When asked about what it feels like to do morning announcements, Armenta said, “It feels like an old 90s sitcom.” The film production advisor Alicia DelaTorre, has been doing this for seventeen years. When asked about her job DelaTorre responded with, “I just like the creation process of film and television.” She has a degree in film and a credential in art film media. If you’re interested in joining this class next year, talk to Delatorre for a fresh start in Film Production in room 7-8.
