Four days at school

What a four day schedule would look like.

What a four day schedule would look like.

High school with a four-day school week, instead of the current five-day week, has both good and bad sides. One reason to have a four-day school week it is that students might feel happier and less tired with an extra day off each week. This can give them more time to relax, do hobbies, or spend time with family. Junior Brendon Duffy said, “The four-day school week could help kids stress less about school.” It might also save money for schools because they don’t have to pay for things like electricity and food for an extra day.

However, there are some concerns too. There are people who worry that students might not learn as much with fewer days in school. Junior Johnatan Evans said, “They might forget things more easily or have less time to ask questions.”

Another worry is for students who play sports. With one less day of school, they might have less time for homework or studying. This could make it harder for them to keep up with their grades and do well in school. Coaches might need to adjust practice schedules to help students balance sports and schoolwork better. Overall, while a four-day school week can offer more free time and save money, it’s important to think about how it might affect students’ learning and activities like sports.
