On Friday, May 23, all the ASB candidates had a day of highest anticipation as it was the day all the students would have placed their votes for ASB Positions. This included Sophomore, Junior, and Senior Class Presidents, both ASB VPs, and ASB President. Junior Ivy Roessell ran for ASB President unopposed, and junior Melody Oh ran for Senior Class President unopposed as well, which won them a secure place in their respective positions. ASB VP of Athletics and Activities official position was given to junior Ethan Hall. The new Junior Class President was voted to sophomore Jetta Rose. Sophomore Class President was finally given to freshman Hailey Blough.
When determining the ASB VP of Academics and Arts, the result were far too close to call, as only a single vote separated junior Kennedy Green and sophomore Kaitlyn Godwin to achieve their spot. This led to them to then utilize the long weekend to spend time presenting their final reasons to be voted for, leaving a considerable amount of time of suspense for them. Finally, Tuesday arrived, and the last votes for ASB VP were cast, and junior Kennedy Green well-deservedly earned her spot! Her work campaigning and her initiative truly impacted the Highlander community, and the Kingdom is extremely excited for her future contributions to the ASB Team.
After achieving her position, Green shared, “Changes I want to see next year is more inclusion and advertisement of the amazing programs we have as I don’t necessarily think we don’t have enough programs, yet we don’t have enough attention on them.” Green further stated, “It’s hard to speak out [about various clubs], and that’s okay, which is why ASB needs those few brave people that can be one voice that means hundreds.” Her words truly encapsulated what is meant to hold an ASB position, and with all the glory holds a considerable amount of responsibility. Let us gather and see what the new school year of 2025-2026 holds for us.
