On Friday, May 2, Royal High School dominated at the Coastal Canyon League Track and Field Finals held at Moorpark High School. They faced off against Camarillo, Oak Park, Moorpark, and Simi Valley High School. The athletes brought home nine league championship titles.
Among the standout performances were senior Blake Boucher, who claimed the varsity boys 400 meter title, and sophomore Madison Boucher, who became the varsity girls 800 meter champion. Senior Graham LaBassĀ secured his fourth consecutive league title in pole vault, while senior Nadia Smith took home the girls varsity pole vault medal.
Other champions included junior Luis Andrade in the JV boys 800 meter, senior Emily Montalvo in the JV girls pole vault, sophomore Kaiden Miltko in frosh/soph boys discus, freshman David Huang in frosh/soph boys pole vault, and sophomore Landon Boucher in frosh/soph boys triple jump.
Looking future ahead, 10 athletes moving on to CIF Prelims include senior Blake Boucher competing in the 400 meter, sophomore Madison Boucher competing in the 800 meter and the 1600 meter, junior Tristan Trejo competing in the 800 meter, senior Graham LaBass, senior Nadia Smith, and junior Madolyn Nodine competing in pole vault, senior Clarence Tuazon competing in triple jump, senior Tommy DeJong ,and sophomores Jorge Santos and Robert Smith competing in the 4 X 400 meter relay
The team has their eyes are on their next big performance at Ontario High School on Saturday, May 10.
