
In the leadership room on Friday, April 25, an informational meeting took place to address what the new election season will be like. ASB elections will go on to see who will become next year’s ASB president, class presidents, ASB VP of Arts and Academics, ASB VP of Athletics and Activities, etc. The other positions will be Director of Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion, Secretary/Treasurer and Social Media Chair. This meeting, led by Ms. Patricia Myskowski, was a way for students to find out how to campaign and be apart of these positions.
Your class presidents go from sophomore to senior, with them working as the “right hand” student to the class advisor. The VP of Academics and Art is the 2nd in command to the ASB president; they will collaborate with the president to plan and implement the ASB cabinet calendar. VP of Athletics and Activities is the 3rd in command to the ASB president they will do the same role as VP of Academics and Art.
The Director of Social Media is responsible for Royal messaging to the students on campus with information on clubs and classes and all the groups on all social media platforms. The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ensures that the ASB cabinet and leadership class are keeping inclusion at the forefront of the school activities and develops ways to celebrate the many cultures at the Kingdom. Secretary/Treasurer will work closely with the ASB account clerk to ensure appropriate management of ASB meeting minutes and financial obligations
Junior Melody Oh, who will run for Senior Class President shared, “I have done ASB elections for the past two years now, as I ran for Sophomore and Junior Class President, and it is always such an exciting time.” Junior Ivy Roessell, who will run for ASB President said, “I love campaigning for my position whether it be making posters, or passing out items to spread the word for what I am running for.”
There is a time for the ASB elections, with it going from April 30 to May 28. Good luck to all the participants, and we shall see what the elected students will have in store for us. Go Highlanders!
