An exciting leadership opportunity is just around the corner for classes of 2026 and 2027. On Tuesday, April 22, an informational meeting was held during lunch in the CSI room for those interested in joining Link Crew for the 2025-2026 school year. The meeting invited Highlanders who considered themselves helpful, motivated, and a leader, to help support and guide incoming freshmen.
The meeting focused on a detailed overview of what it means to be a Link Crew Leader. The program is designed to welcome and support incoming freshmen by pairing them with juniors and seniors who show strong leadership, dedication, and school spirit. During the meeting, Highlanders were informed that being a Link Leader requires attendance at all mandatory training sessions and orientation events, no exceptions. Assitant Principal Ms. Patricia Myszkowski said, “If you are not at training, you cannot be a part of the orientation. There won’t be anything for you to do.”
Throughout the year, Link Crew Leaders are expected to attend several key events, including summer training, orientation, Back to School Night, Evening of Excellence, freshman tailgate party. Additional optional events like study sessions, also offer ways to make up missed activities. With around 180 applications competing for roughly 100 spots, the selection process can be competitive.
Myszkowski said, “You have the first opportunity to influence the freshman coming in.” Highlanders who participate in Link Crew both junior and senior year and meet all the minimum requirements are eligible to receive a graduation cord.
Link Crew Leaders are expected to wear designated shirts to be visible to freshmen and help them on the first day of school. Myszkowski concluded the meeting by encouraging students to stay involved in school extracurriculars, even if not selected. Ultimately, Link Crew offers highlanders a chance to influence and teach freshmen, “What it is to be a highlander,” as Myszkowski said.
