As of April 2025, the brand-new College and Career room has officially opened to everyone in room 6-9. With this flourishing change, a larger group of students can receive Ms. Rina Campos’s help, as well as having a safe space to hang out. Previously in the library, Campos was unable to aid a widespread amount of students with workshops and interviews, and it would often confuse student’s on where to find her, whether it be in the library or her office. Now, all her help is condensed to one place student’s can visit for fast and efficient help.
Campos, previously a middle school counselor, is experiencing her first time not only being a high school counselor but a college counselor at that, which intimidated her in the beginning. Campos shared, “I kind of felt lost, but now as I am learning my role, it has gotten a lot easier.” Campos first went to Allan Hancock College for two years after high school, then California Baptist University where she achieved her Bachelors in Psychology, which then she earned her Masters in Counseling at Massachusetts University Global.
When asked about how the change has positively impacted her work, Campos shared, “It is easier for students to find me in one space rather than different spaces. To avoid confusion, I asked Mr. Hall for a classroom, which he agreed. Then I moved here and I love it.” Moreover she stated, “Now I can have a ton of students in here for Dual Enrollment sign-ups, registration for Moorpark [College], financial aid applications, and just helping them in all in one space, so they know where to find me from now on.”
