On Monday, March 31, it was a nice chilly day and boys tennis was getting ready to compete once again. Highlander boys warmed up to compete against the Camarillo High School Scorpion Junior Varsity boys. The tennis games took place at The Kingdom tennis courts, and the players began to play at 3 p.m. and ended around 6 p.m.
The tennis game was an important match to the boys, due to the competition they have heard about each other from the past years. Both the Highlanders and Scorpion knew they were good players, and would try their best to win their match. Freshman Chase Gifford, had gone up a great player on the other boys tennis team and even though he was nervous, Gifford said, “Going up against each other is really cool and very competitive, but I am glad I got to come with Camarillo knowing they are experienced.” Gifford was so happy to find the scores were not bad and that the players did well. His team seemed happy to compete against Camarillo, where they lost and won some of the matches.
