E-Sports teams at schools have recently become bigger, and have junior varsity and varsity teams. They had a preseason where they have a few matches leading up to the beginning of the actual season. The games that are played right now are Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. The competition takes place at the Berylwood Teen Center during the week after school. The season started recently and is beginning to ramp up.
Mr. Kevin Habroun, one of the teachers associated with the E-sports teams stated, “I think that the recent upcoming of esports is great. I used to have games in my class where students would come in and play against each other. Now that the teams are official, students can compete and have fun while doing it.”
Senior Danny Martinez who was there watching was asked what he thought about E-Sports becoming a sport, he answered with, “I think E-Sports becoming a sport was a good thing because it lets students who play games do it competitively, but also for fun. I think it’s great that there’s actually a good amount of students taking part as well.” With the Kingdom welcoming talent from every corner, E-Sports is a great way for students showing what they are good at, even practicing in the comfort of their own home instead of on the field.
