
On Saturday March 8, the annual Don Green Invitational track meet took place at Moorpark High School. The Don Green meet went all day, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Now that the season is in, everyone was happy and excited to compete. Many other schools were were in attendance at this popular meet.
Clarence Tuazon, a senior, got an amazing score when he triple jumped. Clarence and many other students won a medal for their scores, Clarence winning 5th place overall with 40-6 mark. Tuazon said, “It’s not the jump that matters, but the courage to take off and trust the landing which is the best part.” The sprinters are known for their explosive starts and relentless drive throughout the whole race. As the sprinters lined up, the crowd buzzed with excitement. The wind was calm, the track conditions perfect, and all eyes were on the athletes as they crouched down, preparing for the race.
Sophomore Grace Parle said, “I always get nervous before a race. But instead of letting that feeling control me, I turn it into energy. It’s a reminder that I care about this race, and I’m ready to give it everything I’ve got.” Parle also got an award for her good time, and for her being able to get in the top 5 places of the race against many different schools. Every school competing seemed to have had good team spirit.
