There are many different reasons to like softball, and everyone has a slightly different opinion on the sport. Some like the teamwork it requires, some like the competition, others just enjoy the sport itself and being able to play it. Either way, softball is a source of enjoyment for many people, including the girls’ varsity team, who played a game at Agoura High School on February 20 at 3 p.m.
A victory 5-3, the team played their best and it showed. The game was ensured by the grand slam hit by senior Holly White, earning the team four more points. After the game, she said that her favorite part of playing softball was her teammates. “They push me to become a better version of myself and they always hold me accountable.”
Mr. Bill Dishon, the Head Coach of the varsity team, said this about the game, “We created no errors, we hit the ball a ton. Our pitcher gave up six hits and ten strikeouts. Good job against a very good team.”
Senior Julianna Galbraith, the pitcher of the game, said that it, “Went really well, because even though we were down at one point, we found a way to get the lead again and we held onto it, and just had each other’s backs the entire time.”
Overall, both teams played well and it was very entertaining to watch. It was close in the beginning, but the grand slam in the fourth inning really determined the win for the highlanders. The team worked well together and it paid off in their success.
