On February 14, students at our school celebrated the annual tradition of Senior Hug Day. Seniors created or purchased their Hug Day shirts, each featuring signs that read “Hug me,” inviting underclassmen to join in the fun with friendly embraces.
Despite the light drizzle, the PTSA set up tables in the MPR, offering a variety of Valentine’s themed treats for seniors to enjoy. The treats included goodies like cookies, brownies, rice crispies, cupcakes, and muffins, which were all packaged in cute heart bags. Students also could pick up special pins that read “Senior Hug Day” or “Hug me”.
To enhance the celebration, leadership students decorated the MPR with heart posters, creating perfect backdrops for seniors to take memorable photos.
Senior Mariafernanda MartinezFlores fully embraced the tradition, saying, “I take Senior Hug Day very seriously. I made my own t-shirt and decorated it with glitter and hearts, and I got a total of 25 hugs!”
With sweet treats, hugs, and plenty of school spirit, Senior Hug Day once again proved to be a beloved tradition that makes senior’s Valentine’s Day even more special.
