Valentine’s Day is a day lots of people look forward to. People exchange gifts with the most common ones being flowers, stuffed animals, chocolates, and candy in a way to show appreciation to loved ones in their lives. The most common things are going to the beach, going to a restaurant, watching a movie, and just spending time with people you love. Some students commented on how they spent Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 14:
Senior Adilene Lomeli shared, “I went to the beach in Port Hueneme and after we got food at Dave’s Hot Chicken.”
Senior Gustavo Raya said, “I went to Malibu and spent most of the time at the beach. We got dinner at a restaurant out there, and watched the sunset while we ate.”
Senior Jaden Arreguin responded with, “I spent the day at home and we watched movies until we went out for dinner to The Cheesecake Factory.”
Senior Lalit Kondra said, “I spent my Valentine’s Day with my friends, and we just went out to get food and hangout after.”
Senior Angel Espinoza said, “My Valentine’s Day was great. I went to my girlfriend’s house in Somis, and I spent the day over there. I gave her the flowers and gifts I got her, and she gave me a basket with stuff she got me.”
Freshman Isaiah Santos answered with, “I spent my Valentine’s Day with my family at home, and we just watched movies while my mom made dinner for all of us.”
Senior Austin Maina said, “I went out with all my friends, and we went to the mall and walked around. We got food and came back and went to the park after.”
Though Valentine’s Day is regarded as a day of romance, many spent it with friends and family as an excuse to show their appreciation for each other. To emphasize more on this, senior Cesar Carballo stated, “I think Valentine’s Day is special for a lot of people, and I think it’s great that people get to show their love for each other.”
Valentine’s Day is special to a lot of people and it’s more than just a mundane day for them. They get to show their love and appreciation for each other, whether that’s by giving gifts, going out, or just spending time with each other. The Highlanders all throughout campus was buzzing with joy and excitement for what was to come that day, only making that beautiful day even better.
