It was a very intense soccer game of freshmen Highlander boys vs. Moorpark High School, and many people had high hopes for both teams. The game took place on the stadium field during January 14, from 4:00 to 5:15 p.m. The highlander boys soccer team was very competitive and was ready for this big game. Coach Henry Rodriguez, trained the boys the best he could so can bring a win before the game.
The soccer game was not one of the best games the boys had played. They were disappointed because they ended up losing the game. The boys tried their best and their hardest and it was a hard loss for them because they did not end up beating them. Rodriguez said, “I was really hoping for my boys to be better but they weren’t and that’s okay because I have been pushing them hard and I take part credit, but I’m going to train the boys better and hopefully help them more.”
Even though they lost the game he was happy they tried. One of the soccer players, freshman Sammuel Sandoval, was upset because he was confused in the game and wanted to win the game just as the rest of the players. Sandoval shared, “Moorpark was a very well trained team and played very well and I want to train harder so I am able to play as good as them because I know I can.” Even though the team had lost they had very good thoughts after the game and knew they could fix their mistakes.
The score of the frosh soccer game ended up being 0-2 and the Musketeers took the win. JV and Varsity also played the same day and JVs score was 1-2 and Varsity tied 2-2. Moorpark has been a big competitor against the Highlanders for a long time. Last year’s team was also beaten by Moorpark and just like this year they weren’t too happy about it. The boys all ended up having fun even though some of them were confused. They were all grateful they got to play against Moorpark and knew they would train harder and win against them next year. Go Highlanders!
