Day Of The Dead is an amazing day to celebrate. On Sunday, October 27, Dia De Los Muertos festival takes place. The festival is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Strathearn Historical Park & Museum. Many people go to celebrate the Day Of The Dead, and everyone shows up in different types of clothes, and many traditional outfits. The event had beautiful music, crafts, food, face paint, and much more activities.
The day was very fun for everyone and the food was amazing. There were many people selling items. There were many crafts and paints that were very creative and fun. Volunteer at the event, Katie Dragoo shared, “I love painting people’s faces, especially skeletons.” She did multiple skeletons and many different designs. The skeletons’ designs are a tradition when dancing folkloric. The dances are very fun, and colorful and it has many different types of way to dance to it. Different students were in the dances, like freshmen Ana Hernandez and Luz Rivera.
In the festival, many shops and houses from 1888 through 1920 were opening and showing the history of the homes. Volunteer Gloria Bosmen was in the barber shop, and shared many things about it. Bosmen said, “The barbers that worked here were amazing and it does look like they did a very good job.” She loved the way people used their old tools and how different it was. The festival was a great time for everyone who attended, showing the history and culture of Dia De Los Muertos, Day Of The Dead.
