On Wednesday, October 2, Key Club hosted their club meeting in the library during lunch. At the meeting, the cabinet members shared volunteer opportunities and some members were honored for the amount of hours they have completed. As well as requirements to be able to attend Fall Rally, which includes paying your dues, attending two spirit sessions, and completing at least 10 hours of community service. Towards the end of the meeting members grouped up and made bracelets for the children’s hospital.
The goal of Key Club is to provide students with a way to help others through service. Vice President Contessa Cunningham, said, “We host meetings weekly where members get together and complete service projects.” But even outside of the meetings members are helping the community in a plethora of ways such as volunteering for events at Strathearn Park, food drives, etc.
One of the things that makes Key Club so successful is that the members truly care about helping others, sophomore Calvin Smith said, “I wanted to do service projects because I like helping others.” The passion of the members combined with the resources of Key Club is what makes it one of the biggest clubs on campus.
