Last May, at the time our junior class president, Luke Lacy announced that he would be running for ASB president. Fast forward to now, he is the current ASB president as a senior. Being ASB President is a huge privilege, as they will be the face of the Highlander Kingdom, as well as in charge of the entire Associated Student Body, which is in charge of events and clubs.
Lacy’s campaign slogan is widely known, Don’t Be Lazy, Vote Luke Lacy. The origin of the slogan came to him from his dad, Lacy said, “We were just shooting ideas back and forth.” Then the rest became history. Those of you who were on campus last year might recall the t-shirts worn in support of Lacy’s campaign, without many posters telling you to vote for Luke Lacy, compared to his running mates. Lacy’s strategy was that he wanted other students to tell each other to vote for him and his campaign, to be more personal. Lacy shared, “I loved campaigning. It’s kind of my thing.”
Now that he is in office, he has many responsibilities such as attending meetings and planning events to list a few. But how does the ASB president manage work, school, and spending time with his friends? Well the answer is simply managing and maximizing his time properly. By prioritizing his work with the help of alarms of course, and doing work whenever he can to ensure it gets finished. With such a big workload, Lacy has to sometimes say no to spending time with his friends, but he found a solution to his dilemma. He finds that by inviting his friends to the events he is taking part in allows him to have the best of both worlds. This just being the start of Lacy’s reign, the Highlanders have a lot to be excited for.
