Many students at school drink energy drinks everyday. These drinks can get many teenagers addicted. These can also be dangerous since they can contain high levels of caffeine. According to Diamond Thailand, a mental health rehab center, it causes the brain to release hormones that feel good which keeps teenagers going back for more.
Energy drinks are one of the top selling beverages in the United States. According to Statista the most popular energy drink Red Bull brings in 10.2 billion dollars a year. There are various other energy drinks from Monster, Celsius, and many more. All these drinks share one thing in common: a lot of caffeine. Some of them can contain up to 300 mg of caffeine per container. These energy drinks are not age restricted at all which means anyone no matter the age has access to these beverages.
“My favorite energy drink is Celsius because it is the healthiest for you,” senior Jonah Krause said. Many companies are making it seem like their energy drinks are healthy but in reality it is for marketing. According to Illuminate labs Celsuis has a lot of active ingredients to increase energy that are not good for you. A healthier alternative to energy drinks is coffee which is proven to help prevent diseases. Senior Colton Bennett said, “I drink one to two energy drinks a day. I do not like the flavor of coffee so I drink energy drinks instead.”
