There is a good chance that students and teachers have received new furniture in some of their classes since the start of the new year. This new furniture includes lighter, more narrow desks, wider chairs, stools and even couches in some classes. On campus people have varying opinions on the new furnishings, Jessie Glavin, a senior speaking on Expository reading and writing teacher Ms. Favreau’s class said, “The new furniture looks good but doesn’t feel the most comfortable.” Meanwhile teacher Ms. Favreau said, “I’m still excited about the new furniture and the variety of seating options it offers my students. Each piece is clean, new, and lightweight, making it a quick and seamless process to rearrange.”
The standard procedure before classes receive new furniture is for them to be painted and new wall boards mounted. Currently many classes are being prepared to receive new coats of paint. Specifically the six building and half of the five building. Work on them is supposed to start this semester, however the process has been continually delayed due to various reasons. The overall plan is for all of the classrooms to get new paintings sometime in 2024. One of the teachers in the six building, world history/economics teacher Mr. Adams said, “I am excited to see what my classroom looks like after the new paint.” Due to the painting, some classes may have to move temporarily until the work is finished. Both the new furniture and the new paint are part of a larger trend of recent construction here at Royal.
