Going back and forth with your friends about where to go on a Friday night is a constant annoyance in so many students’ afternoons. Deciding between a restaurant, and which one, or a friend’s house can be tedious and undecided. On Thursday, December 28, an IHOP opened on Los Angeles and 5th Street, and lots of students have taken up this new change of scenery as a nice place to grab dinner with their friends.
Opened less than a month ago, IHOP (International House of Pancakes) has been thriving, especially on the weekend mornings. At one point, wait times for a table were up to 45 minutes. Junior Allison Flemmeing who visited the new location said, “IHOP was super busy and I would recommend waiting another few weeks before going to avoid the crowd. But, their food was amazing and not too expensive. It was a nice place to hang out with my friends after a Friday night sleepover.” This past weekend, IHOP hosted a youth baseball team’s postgame lunch, which was a party of 30.
Obviously being famous for the pancakes, other popular items are the Burrito Bowls and Omelets. Two very special and unique perks of the Simi Valley IHOP is that all of their omelets come with unlimited pancakes and the restaurant is open 24 hours. The only other 24 hour restaurant open in Simi is Denny’s on the East side of town right next to our rivals, Simi Valley High School. Having a 24 hour chain store is super convenient for students as now we can go for a late night snack with our friends after a night out or a school event.
