Back to School night was held on Wednesday, August 23, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The evening started off with a Royal Family Picnic held in the main quad area. There was food available from Epic Taco and Tiki’s shaved ice, along with performances from band, choir and more. “The band gave an excellent performance, and it was fun bringing my mom to school who had gone to the school when she was younger. She enjoyed seeing the evolution of the campus,” said senior Ian Cervantes.
The weather for the evening was nice, not too hot or cold, and no rain or wind from the hurricane remnants that passed through Simi Valley on Sunday and Monday. Parents were also able to see all the newly constructed areas on campus, and had to avoid the new construction area between the 5 and 8 buildings.
Next, there were classroom visits following a special bell schedule for the rest of the evening. Our counselor, Mrs. Aamina Hennings, did a great job with her fun and enthusiastic announcements between class periods to get parents on time to their next class. Parents were able to meet all their child’s teachers and received lots of information about each class.
