Playing sports can be for fun, or it could be a source of competition among different teams. Whatever the reason people play, games are an opportunity to do what they enjoy. The girls’ JV lacrosse team played against Simi Valley High School on Wednesday, March 12, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Played at Simi Valley High School, the Highlanders’ JV team won with a score of 9-1, the Varsity team earning a victory of 17-4.
Junior Emma Probenzano, the JV captain, said that the game, “Went amazing. I’m so proud of our girls. For a lot of them, this is their first year playing lacrosse ever, and I could not be more proud.” This is her third year on the team, and she says her favorite thing about it is the players and being able to bond with all of them. Her favorite part of the game was, “Seeing everyone come together as a defensive unit.”
Ms. Cathe Utterback, the head coach for both varsity and junior varsity, said, “The game went really well. We were consistent and any time we had to fix something, we fixed it. So, good listening all the way around and I’m very proud of my team.” She also said that the team did best at, “Getting the ball downfield, and also defense protecting the eight.”
Both games were a great victory for the team and for the school. It was all due to the teams involved, who gave their best effort. With many past victories for both teams, there is no doubt many more wins are headed for both Varsity and JV.
