On September 26, our girls and boys cross country team ran their first league race of the season at Corriganville Park in Simi Valley. They raced against other high schools like Camarillo, Oak Park, Moorpark, and Simi Valley. The course was filled with sand, rock, and hills. It was a hot and tough race.
Junior Jeffry Van Kirk placed 23rd in the JV boy’s heat. In the Frosh/Soph boys heat sophomores Jorge Santos placed 20th, Jacob Fuchs placed 22nd, Nathaniel Torres placed 24th, Adrian Jansen placed 25th, and freshman Connor Alexander placed 26th.
In the varsity boys heat juniors Tristan Trejo placed 18th, Robert Smith placed 30th, Preston Hernandez placed 34th, sophomores Seth Hermansen placed 31st, Anthony Montano placed 33rd, and seniors Owen Raitt and Jaden Morales placed 28th and 32nd.
On the girl’s side our JV girls, sophomore Sophia Piscitello placed 27th, juniors Charlotte Bailey placed 26th, Miranda Maradiaga placed 31st, Contessa Cunningham placed 45th, and Alexa Henriquez placed 48th, as well as senior Olivia Powell placed 41st.
As for the stats for our varsity girls, freshman Madison Boucher and Lauren Villafana placed 10th and 24th place, junior Jade East placed 25th, and senior Marissa Phipps placed 20th. The Corriganville Park is known for its movies that were filmed there like Fort Apache, starring John Wayne; Jungle Jim, starring Johnny Weissmuller and The Three Musketeers, starring Lana Turner and Gene Kelly.
