Boys volleyball has kept a good reputation for themselves so far this season. They are currently 4-0. Senior captain and libero, Joey Nelson, has 42 digs and 43 points on serve so far this season, junior outside hitter Timmy McIntosh with an outstanding 45 kills, and captain and junior setter Carter Borth has come up with 77 assists. The team has over 20 aces combined so far.
While watching them play you can see their passion for the game. “They are very hard working, they know the game well, and they believe they can win,” said head coach Dean Borth. Borth believes that this group can continue to play well and hopefully go far. That is what puts them in a good mindset to be able to work together to win. In their most recent game against Newbury Park on March 1, they played it out in 5 sets. By first impressively winning the first set by 25-16. Then coming up shy with a score of 21-25. Next with a nerve racking set, where the boys really gave it their all, came out on top by 26-24. Then they felt the pressure in the 4th set by ending 9-25. Lastly they knew there was no other option but to win so they ended it with a score of 15-6. “We all work well together rather than relying on individual skills, which really makes us a true team and why we know we can be successful,” said team member junior Devon Ware.
