Boys basketball played at Simi Valley High School on Thursday, February 1, and ended up losing 38-63 to our rivals. This was the last regular season game for this school year. Overall we went 17-11 a .61 win rate and unfortunately went 0-8 in our league. We ended up ranking 339 out of all California, 23rd in California division 4, 153rd in the Southern Section, 5th in the Southern Section Division 4, and 41st in Los Angeles Metro. Junior Ace Arnold was our points leader averaging 22 points a game, senior Gavin Wright led the team in rebounds per game with 8, senior Nolan Suarez led the team in assists per game with 4, Arnold also led in steals per game at 2, Wright averaged the most shot blocks with .3, Arnold also had the highest 3 pointer percentage at 34%.
We averaged 59 points a game, 29 rebounds a game, 10 assists a game, 6 steals a game, and 1 block a game, and most impressively only 12 fouls (keep in mind the average in a NBA game is around 25.) Our team had a great year just missing out on playoffs. They have learned amazing experiences taking on a ton of challenges and overcoming them. Arnold said, “We had fun trying our best, just unfortunate we weren’t able to perform in league games, but this is a learning experience, and we will learn from it.” Senior varsity captain Parker Hill said, “We did amazing and I am proud of this team, but we have to move on.”
