Boys varsity basketball took on cross town rival Simi Valley High School on Wednesday, January 17, at home and unfortunately lost 58-51. We are 17-7 overall and only 0-4 in league. It was an exciting game in the last minutes, and unfortunately SVHS scored two three pointers and one layup toward the end.
Players that had great games for us include Junior Ace Arnold, who has been a elite shooting Guard averaging 23 points a game, along with averaging six rebounds a game and averaging two steals a game. Senior Gavin Wright averages nine points a game, also averaging one steal per game and having the highest field goal percentage at 45% and averaging the most rebounds per game at eight. Also, senior Nolan Suarez averages four assists per game leading the team, senior Parker Hill averages 7 points a game with 2 assists and 2 rebounds per game, junior Chase Brosamle who averages nine points a game with one assist a game and five rebounds a game. All these players have made a difference. We also have a .711 win percentage in non league games. Junior Devon Ware said, “We have a good team, we average a ton of points a game and we know what we got to work on.”
The team has been looking to improve in the league. We average 62 points a game, and average 22 defensive rebounds a game with 10 offensive rebounds a game, averaging 11 assists a game with 7 steals, and 12 turnovers a game. Arnold said, “I enjoy going out and playing well with a team we know has each other’s backs.”
