For this school year, we have a new Assistant Principal. A warm Highlander welcome to Mrs. Patricia Russell! Russell was inspired to become an Assistant Principal ever since she was a math teacher, intervention coordinator, and English instructional coach for students whose first language was not English.
Some of her plans and goals are to, “Help support Royal with any growth that is needed while following Mr. Hall’s guidelines,” said Russell. Many of her struggles while growing up were a “motivator”, to get her where she is today. “I didn’t want to repeat the cycle, I wanted more for my future and future family and kids,” Russell said.
Many students can use that little push and reassurance to pursue a career like Russell’s, or any career for that matter. Her advice for these students is, “Anything is possible. Don’t let your current situation determine your destination, just because you are in a certain place right now doesn’t mean that’s where you need to be. You can always break the cycle and never let money be a factor. You can make it happen with or without money because there are always people willing to help,” Russell said.
