For seniors it is that time of year, classes touring colleges and getting prepared for life after high school graduation. A field trip to Moorpark College took place on Wednesday, March 6. The select students left campus at 9:00 a.m. This field trip was available for seniors interested in touring our local Moorpark College to see possible majors they could take there and get a feel of the campus. What did the students do you may ask? Senior Jose Martinez said, “I got some food and took a tour of the school I’m going to be attending.” Senior Pranti Ryali said, “I went around to see the Moorpark college campus, saw a presentation they showed us.” What did students think about the campus? Senior Makayla Bell said, “Its a great low cost alternative college instead of paying lots of money for other colleges and instead of those colleges choosing your classes for you.” Senior Anthony Hamiliton said, “I think Moorpark is a good community college and I hope I can go there.” Another senior Pranavi Ryali said, “I think Moorpark College is a nice college and I like the media arts we saw there on campus.”
Do you want to go to Moorpark College? Will the seniors who attended the field trip attend the college in fall? Senior Elijah Serrano said, “I will not be attending in the fall but I will be attending in the summer.” Senior GiAnne Banuelos said, “Yes I will be attending Moorpark in the fall, so I can get my bachelors degree and major in psych.” Some of you are probably wondering why did the teachers decided to take the students on this field trip, teacher Alfred Pratt said, “We want the students to know what their options are for post secondary education. We believe Moorpark College is a good resource and there’s no better way to find out more about it than to take the official tour they offer.” Teacher Penelope Templeton said, “Because we wanted to give you guys a first hand experience of what the campus will be like, and for you to be able to ask questions to the people that actually work there. There’s nothing better than first hand experience.” The school district workability teacher Tammy White said, “To show a series of the options they have after graduation. I wanted to introduce them to ACCESS program to go over the accommodations they offer here at Moorpark College. There’s a lot of fantastic programs that are offered here.” The field trip ended with food for lunch, the students got to chose between a food truck or school lunch provided by the school. You can guess the majority of the students chose the food truck. What a way to end such an informational field trip for the seniors of 2024!
