During a Brown Bag lunch meeting in the CSI room on Thursday, October 10, Bernardo Perez was recognized for his great service to the community. Since joining the Community College Board in 2010, he has played an important role in advocating for education and community development.
Perez’s leadership experience included having served on the Moorpark City Council and as its Mayor. His current involvement is with various organizations, such as the Workforce, Investment Board and the Moorpark Foundation for the Arts, showing his commitment to making positive change in Ventura County. Perez emphasized the importance of seeking support, stating, “Being able to ask for help demonstrates strength.” His dedication to student education was made in his statement, “Students first,” highlighting his focus on prioritizing the needs of learners. Through his efforts, he encourages others to “Vote your conscience, be yourself,” inspiring community members to take an active role in shaping their future.
This recognition at not only honors Perez’s achievements but also reinforces the values of community engagement and leadership in education. “Mr. Perez has inspired me to ask for help more often when I need it! I benefited from his meeting.” said freshman Gracie Lancome.
