Feeling stressed over upcoming AP exams? Need more review? We got you covered! AP Social Studies teachers Brian Dennert, Kevin Habroun, Kevin Boerem, and Richard Letus are hosting review sessions during lunch and after school. The official date for the AP US History exam will be on May 9. Can’t make it to the reviews due to clubs or sports? Do not worry, if you cannot attend the review at lunch, Mr. Dennert will be teaching two review sessions after school in the Library and CSI Room for AP HUG and US History. One will be at 3:00 p.m. and another at 5:00 p.m. They will be taking practice multiple choice quizzes and reviewing them.
Mr. Kevin Habroun’s reviews will take place in his classroom during lunch on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. His students will be practicing for the AP World History exam. The students will take practice tests that simulate the AP exam and then discuss the questions that most got wrong. They also play kahoot and for attending, students will get a raffle ticket to have a chance to get a perfect score on their final. When asked if he sees students improving due to the reviews, Habroun said, “100%, Royal consistently scores above California’s pass rate and the reason for that is because our whole social studies department holds these reviews that allow kids to put in that extra time to review and study.”
Mr. Boerem will be hosting sessions for the AP Government and Politics test on Wednesdays and Thursdays at lunch. On Wednesdays he will teach each of the four types of free response questions that will appear on the AP test and on Thursdays his class will go over the content of each of the five units and have a practice quiz.
Mr. Richard Letus has seven upcoming reviews for the AP US History exam. Junior, Alexander Koplow said, “I have already attended one of the reviews and I really think they do help better prepare us for the exam.” Two of Letus’s reviews will be on April 21 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m and 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m in the library. On the 22nd there will be another review in the CSI Room from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. On May 1 there will be two more review sessions. One in the CSI Room at 3:00 p.m – 5:00 p.m and the other at 6:30 p.m – 8:30 p.m in the library. Finally, Mr. Letus’s last two reviews will be on May 6 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m and 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in the CSI Room. Good luck students on all of your exams. Study hard and don’t forget Highlanders, you got this!
