The California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Club is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring and promoting academic achievements and community services among middle and high schools throughout California. This club encourages students to excel in their studies while promoting a spirit of service to their school and community. The club meets every third Thursday of each month in room 5-3.
Members of the CSF club are given scholarships and other opportunities and it serves as a mark of distinction that colleges and universities look for when considering applicants. Students have to reapply every semester and the application is the same each time. To qualify, students must meet specific academic criteria, including maintaining a high GPA and excelling in core subjects. Once accepted, members are encouraged to participate in various volunteer activities, leadership opportunities, and school events, all aimed at building character and giving back to the community.
Starting with the spring semester of sophomore year, students may apply each semester, based on the previous semester’s grades, to receive member status which is based on their academics on a point system. Students who successfully become members for four semesters during their high school career achieve Lifetime Member Status which results in recognition at graduation, as well as a cord given to wear as well.
By joining the CSF club, students commit to both academic achievement but also to making a positive impact in our school. Club advisor, Mr. Robert Willging said, “This organization continues to promote the education of academically motivated students, encouraging them to get involved in their communities through volunteer service.” Club president, senior Reese Dugar said, “It is important because it gives students scholarship opportunities and looks great on college applications.”
