Notice all the bright and colorful backpacks around school lately? Many seniors have decided for their last year in high school to wear children cartoon backpacks. Highlanders will see cartoons such as Pokemon, Barbie, Spiderman, Spongebob and many more on backpacks. This is because senior year represents the last year before you become an adult, and have to move on to college and think about your future and career.
Reaching senior year is a huge milestone for the lives of students in high school. The backpacks give a nostalgic feeling of childhood and all the progress students have made since Kindergarten. This is a great way for seniors to celebrate themselves and join in on school spirit. Senior Itzel Gandullia, has agreed that, “It is cool seeing shows and characters I grew up with all over Royal.”
Being able to reminisce on the past is another reason students love to participate. It is amazing to see so many students getting involved and being brought together through similar childhoods, and favorite TV shows and movies growing up. This trend has been around for many years but the Class of 2025 seems to be very excited to show school spirit.
