On a beautiful evening of August 19, from 5-8 p.m., students sent their parents to school with Back To School Night. The night started with performances from Band and Choir at 5 p.m., then at 6 p.m., the schooling commenced. Parents were able to visit each of their student’s classes according to their individual schedules and enjoy refreshments and food during their student’s free periods. This event ended successfully with all families prepared for the new year.
As the night began at five with performances from Marching Band, Color Guard, and Choir, enthusiasm buzzed between families and class visitations began. ROTC also stood in uniform with drones, showing off their talent and leadership. Link Leaders were also stationed at multiple areas to help out students and parents navigate to classes and answer questions. During their student’s free periods, parents were able to enjoy food from various food trucks as well as refreshments from the Highlander CafĂ©, which was open throughout the night.
As parents visited classes, teachers informed parents on how each class runs, allowing parents to get a clearer sense about what their kids participate in during class. Junior Natasha Paloian, who participated in Back To School Night with her mother, said, “Seeing students with the families made the Royal family feel more real.” Paloian’s mother, Cynthia Paloian said, “Knowledge is power. I love to stay informed,” showing the perspective of parents and how helpful Back To School Night truly is. This event took place much earlier in the year, but allowed families to bond with teachers and their student’s, while also starting the school year with enthusiasm and readiness.
