Many fans of soccer flood stadiums to watch their favorite teams play and some even have their teams with their friends. The Highlander girls Junior Varsity team played against Camarillo on Monday, January 21, at 5:30 p.m. This was one of many games played on that day, with different levels of Royal and Camarillo teams. The games were held at home on the football field.
With a winning score of 4-1, the Highlanders gave their full effort into the game. The Junior Varsity Coach, Mr. Adam Henderson said that, to him, the highlight of the game was, “Scoring four goals, having my forward get a hat trick, and then my captain scoring a 40-yard shot.” He expressed his pride in the team, saying that “they moved the ball very well.”
Sophomore Kylie Hartunt, who plays center-mid, said that the team, “Did really good passing, and we made really good through-balls.” She also said that in future games she looks forward to, “Playing again with the girls, improving still, and just having fun.”
The game was an intense watch, with each team being about an even match against the other. Everyone was very talented in the sport, and it showed, even if the score doesn’t reflect that. Each team was filled with very hardworking players who love their sport, and want to enjoy each game.
