On Saturday, December 7 at 7 p.m., Dancing with the Highlander Stars, a show to help raise money was held in the MPR. Families sat and watched as students performed the dances they had been rehearsing for months. Each group performed one by one, as it was all grade levels from freshmen to seniors. The groups consisted of students from the dance team and athletes, most coming from football.
They began to let everyone in at 6:50 p.m., and the stands and seats began to fill up quickly. When the show began, they announced each of the judges and played an introduction video for each of the groups before they danced. They had half of the groups dance and then had intermission halfway through where you were able to get up and buy snacks and drinks for $2 each at the concession stand.
After intermission, they resumed and the rest of the groups danced. To end the dance, all the students came out and had one big final dance. They played a blooper reel while the judges picked who the winners were. Finally they announced each group who won an award and the night was over.
After the show Michael Chapman, a grandparent was asked what he thought about the dance and he said, “The dance was amazing, each of the groups performed great and it was fun seeing what the kids came up with and seeing them up there having fun was great too.” Alejandra Maldonado, a parent, was then asked what she thought about each of the dances and she replied with, “The dances were all good, some were funny and some were more serious but they were all great in their own way.”
