This spring is the start of the girl’s lacrosse season! This year we have a group of around 38 girls that fill both a JV and the varsity team. So far they have played in 7 games, and have a current record of 4-3. In recent games, they have played El Camino High School and won 18-0, and also won against Birmingham High School with a score of 17-0 to help their record. On Wednesday, March 16, the girls competed against cross town rival Simi Valley High School.
“It was a really fun and competitive game. It was nice to play against my friends on the other team too and to have a bigger audience in the stands,” said Junior Harmony Hall, who has scored 16 goals so far this season, and was last year’s varsity MVP. Hall scored 4 goals helping Royal win, 20-8, against Simi.
Another star player from the girl’s lacrosse team is Hayden Kelly, a junior who has played on Royal´s varsity lacrosse team since her freshman year and scored 6 goals during this game. Regarding her experience on the lacrosse team, “It’s been great! We just got a new coach and everyone loves her and it’s a great community to be a part of!” said Kelly. “It was super fun! A lot of us know each other and the rec team was there so there was a lot of pressure, but overall it was a lot of fun,” Kelly added.
This was the third year in a row that Royal girls lacrosse has defeated Simi. The team has had a successful season so far and will continue to thrive throughout the rest of the season.
