Tuesday night, September 10, at 6:00 pm the Presidential Debate was live, and millions worldwide were watching—President Trump vs Vice President Harris and their different visions for America’s future. Students got an opportunity to watch the debate and some seniors have been deciding who they might want to vote for in November 2024. There are a wide range of student opinions regarding the debate.
“Both parties didn’t do a fantastic job answering questions, but they did do a great job steering the questions away,” said senior Valerie Sanchez. “Both sides were okay and it was a little difficult to understand Trump, but it was way easier understanding Kamala,” said senior Savannah Landon. Another student senior Mitch Gonzalez said regarding the debate, “I felt like I was pushed towards the democratic side because every time Kamala was asked a question, I feel like she answered it very clearly and to the very best she could.”
Many of students are still undecided. “I liked Kamala’s ideas, but I still don’t know and if so it’s not like I can even vote yet,” said junior George Torres. Senior Sri Gazula said, “Even though my mom is voting Harris, I don’t like either candidate.” Some students did not care like sophomore Julie Sanchez who said, “I didn’t pay any attention to it, and even if I did I bet the people asking the questions favored Kamala more while ignoring Trump.”
