Seniors Kevin Bautista and Meelad Zarrabi collecting cans from classes during 3rd period.

The food drive for the Ventura County Food Share started this week, November 28, to raise canned food and other stuff for those in need. This food drive will end on December 13.

If you’re interested in getting involved all you have to do is bring canned/non-perishable food into your 3rd period class. The top two classes with the highest points will win a pizza party, along with having bragging rights for a year. Last year’s winners were the classes of Mr. Boerem and Mr. Hemphill.

You can buy canned food mostly anywhere, such as Albertsons, Vons, and the dollar store. Canned food is not too expensive. Canned food items could be anything from canned beans to canned soups, and you probably already have some in your pantry at home. Each item you donate is worth 1 point, and some are worth additional points. Items that are worth 3 points are canned protein, peanut butter, cereals, canned soup, canned fruit/veggies, and boxes of rice and pasta. Make sure to donate before the deadline, and help those in need.
